The firing of Geoffrey Berman, the United State Attorney for the Southern District of New York, was an ugly affair, in which William Barr announced he had stepped down when Berman said he hadn’t and wasn’t. In the end, he was fired, with Trump pointing a finger at William Barr for being the instigator. At first, the press speculated the firing was over the ongoing investigation of Rudy Giuliani or the past investigation of Michael Cohen. However, it seems Berman refused to sign a ridiculous complaint originating from the White House blasting Mayor deBlasio for singling out Orthodox Jews for breaking pandemic rules by gathering for a funeral.
